Object With Movements, Something Like A Musical Instruments, Yamaha London Design Week Exhibition, 2013

"Vibrating Small Forest"

There are several connecting points between visual and sounds. First one is visual that evokes perception of sounds, which, some shape that make people think of particular sounds. Second one is movement. If there isn’t any movements, sound cannot exists. I combined these two points and made an object that shows ‘visualized sounds’. Many little beads that are put on the end of thin springs are constantly shaking, so it’s looks like making sounds but actually not quite. This is to show the story of relationship between sound and visual, and somehow looks like, ‘a captured sound’, with it’s glass dome and small forest-like looking. Also, the arrangement and the composition of hundreds of little units could represent music, which is carefully composed group of sounds units.
